We are aware of the fact that our cost of electricity is increasing day by day and we can’t depend upon a single source for energy production. Because of the availability of
resources to generate electricity being less and low availability of power, we need to think out of the way to generate electricity. Thus the non conventional energy source science experiment for kids should also be included as part of their curriculum to know about the problems and benefits of nature One of the non conventional energy source science experiments for kids is generating energy from the sun and generating energy from fruits.
In order to generate energy from fruits, the materials we require is pieces of fruit, a wire, and a build with socket of 1.2 volt with a meter to evaluate the voltage along with copper and zinc electrodes.
The way to do it is by connecting the zinc and copper electrodes in each piece of fruit and connect them to a main wire having + and _ nodes. Check the passage of electricity with the help of multi-meter. Increase the fruit pieces to create enough energy. Connect the wire with a light bulb using socket and the light bulb will illuminate, if there is enough electricity.
Other experiments that you can try are catching the sun’s rays, thus making a new mode of generating the non-conventional energy source projects for kids. The sources that fully replenish by the natural processes are wind energy, solar energy and bio or bio-fuel energy, hydro-power energy. Thus renewable energy is the one which changes, energy found in the sea-waves, wind, sunlight, wave and tidal energy, geothermal energy etc.
Solar photovoltaic as well as solar thermal route are two main modes of non-conventional energy which is used world wide. Where the solar photovoltaic is used for generating electricity for home electric appliances, running motors, motor pumps and lighting buildings, solar thermal route is used for hot water, cooking food, heating air and drying out clothes.
Let us do a small experiment with the solar water heater, which has got two main constituents like a collector and a tank to store. The collector will be flat and plate like, may be rectangular shape with a transparent cover and we need to keep it facing the sun on top of the building.The small tubes that go through the rectangular box carry water to act as an antifreeze. The tubes attached to the plate absorbs the heat. The build up heat in the collector or receiver is passed through the fluid which passes through the tubes.
