To conduct this Mysterious Circles science experiment all you need is a cardboard, copper wire, battery, iron fillings and couple of glasses. First of all take two glasses of equal height and place them on a flat surface (table or ground) close to each other in such a manner that a cardboard can be place properly on top of them. Now take a cardboard and make a hole in its center with the help of a pin or a compass. Pass the copper wire through this hole and place the cardboard in a horizontal position on top of these glasses.

Take a battery and connect both the ends of copper wire to this battery.  Now sprinkle some iron fillings on this cardboard and tap the cardboard gently with your finger. Soon you will be amazed to see that these iron fillings make round circles around the wire. This happens because of the direct current flowing through the wire which produces a magnetic field around it. This magnetic field results into iron fillings forming a circular pattern around the wire.

You might have seen that the Mysterious Circles science experiment is pretty easy to perform and is truly fascinating. Children can perform this experiment at home and show it to their family members or friends.
