To perform a Shooting Puffed Rice science experiment all you need is a plastic spoon, woolen cloth, dish and some puffed rice grains. First of all take a dish and put some puffed rice on it. Now take a plastic spoon and rub it with woolen cloth for some time and then hold it over the dish which has puffed rice. Soon you will be amazed to see that the puffed rice grains will jump up and hang to the spoon and then suddenly they will wildly shoot in all the directions. The reason behind such an occurrence is that when the plastic spoon is rubbed to the woolen cloth it gets electrically charged as a result of which the rice grains get attracted to the spoon and cling to it for a while. Then some of the electrons pass into the puffed rice from the spoon till the spoon and rice grains have same amount of charge. Like charges repel each other due to which the puffed rice can be seen shooting towards all the directions.
