Take an aluminum foil and cut two strips out of it (1 cm by 4 cm each). Now take a paper clip and form it into a shape of a hook. Insert the back end of hook through the center of index card and use a tape to secure it. Push the hook through the aluminum strips and then place the index card over the glass jar.
Make sure that the aluminum strips are hanging in the jar in a proper manner. You will see that when you bring an electrically charged object near the hook, the aluminum strips will spread apart. You can use electrically charged objects such as a plastic comb or a balloon which has been rubbed on a woolen cloth. The reason behind this is that when the hook comes in contact with an electrically charged object, the electrons either flow from aluminum strips to the hook or from hook to the aluminum strips. As a result of which you can see the movement of strips in the jar.
