Some of very Easy Science Experiment Projects For School Going Kids

Science Experiment on the Magnetic Field of Earth

Earth is surrounded by an invisible magnetic field which protects it from the space radiation. We can say that earth is like a giant magnet with North Pole and South Pole. Earth consists of a magneto sphere which extends from its poles to tens of thousands of miles into space. To understand this we will conduct a science experiment on the earth’s magnetic field. This experiment is pretty interesting and will make it easier for the kids to understand the magnetic field of earth.

Magnetic Field of the Earth :

To perform a science experiment on the earth’s magnetic field you will have to follow few easy steps. All you need is a cow magnet, fevi kwik, iron filings, plastic tube and plastic container with a lid. The plastic tube and container should be transparent. Make sure that the height of container and the length of tube are same. Take a plastic tube and put some fevi kwik on its base. Stick this tube inside the container to its base. You can insert the cow magnet in this tube.

Now put some iron filings in the container around the tube. Cover this container with a lid and then spin it in a circular motion. You will see that the iron filings will get attracted to magnet and form a pattern of magnetic lines around the tube. This is a perfect experiment to show the earth’s magnetic field.

The science experiment on the earth’s magnetic field is simple to perform and any child can try this at home. They can use this experiment in science exhibitions to demonstrate the magnetic field of earth. Even science teachers can make use of this experiment in their class.

Conclusion: This article focuses on science experiment on the earth’s magnetic field which is easy to conduct. School children can have fun using this cool science experiment. This experiment gives us a visual display of magnetic fields that subsist inside the earth.
